The first minister said:"The waiting times in our accident and emergency departments are not good enough. He also raised the issue of cervical cancer screening, saying the number of checks being carried out for the disease was"a third lower this year compared to the same period in 2019".Novavax has applied to the World Health Organisation for an emergency use listing of its COVID-19 vaccine.The listing is a prerequisite for export to countries participating in the UN-backed COVAX vaccine sharing scheme.

Education minister Alex Burghart replied:"We currently have a testing programme in place to make sure that we limit the number of pupils in school who have coronavirus. She told Radio 5 Live:"We retested them on Tuesday 7 September and we had no positives – but by Friday we started getting positives being reported by parents and by the Monday it was out of control, it was just ridiculous – we're talking 50 cases.

Andrew Monk, chief executive of investment firm VSA Capital, which employs about 20 people in the City of London, spoke as the government prepares to launch a consultation on flexible working this week. The government supports flexible working. It is proposing new starters be allowed to request flexible working when they start a new job, rather than having to wait six months as is the current rule.
