Sky News has spoken to five teenagers who are about to begin their freshers' year while COVID-19 restrictions are in place.

She continued:"I have been experiencing mental health issues unfortunately.

She said:"I decided a few weeks back to take a leap and be like 'guys I'm really freaking out about this', and everyone was so supportive. The 18-year-old, originally from Gloucester, continued:"The restrictions and stuff are taking a toll. It's not great.Natalie said the fact she and her fellow students are in the same position has been a big help but she feels unable to go out.

"With so much going on and so little confirmed it's a very confusing time and I know lots of people this morning were messaging me saying they were trying to drop out."Natasha has struggled with anxiety and depression over the years and said she was bullied a lot at primary and secondary school.

mental health, try a mortgage, bills and mouths to feed topped off with job security like many out there, you would not know where to start and you expect sympathy because you cant socialise ?

I dread to think what the world will be like with all these soft students in charge one day.. FFs get on with it!

When all else fails.....🙄

are you serious? Go to Africa and see how the people there study on universities. Determination 100% - partying 1%..

Welcome to our world

Nothing can stop students from partying and making the best of it. Some with prior mental health issues (my kid says) went home after a day. Most kids are actually ok. Little work and more time for partying.

Didums, shut the university and only allow academics that are important to continue. Finding the easiest bike and cheapest vodka is not a priority

It will do them good .....

Give it till later.. Straight to the off licence.. Get there booze.. Have a mini party between there halls of residence.. People from all over the country many different families.. Boggles ure mind 🤔😂

Charging the beaches at Normandy not knowing whether or not a German bullet will blow your head off I'd say would impact your mental health somewhat

And having house parties street parties with no social distancing & not wear face masks 🎭 didn’t have any impact

Oh poor babies 😂

At 17 years of age my late father was serving on merchant ships on Atlantic & Mediterranean convoys during WW2 and was being dive bombed by Stukas & dodging U boats. He never once complained about his mental health! Get real !!

Thats the point

It’s probably the trauma of pubs & clubs closing at 10pm 🥴🤭

No it’s not, I just started my second year and it’s easier. Online lectures and seminars. I’m spending less money, eating healthier and in between lectures I get to watch YouTube or play Warzone. I seem to have got more uni work done in the past week than the whole of last year.

Crikey, can you imagine this lot in WW2, they would have been running for the hills at the first shot, and this is the worlds future? GOD help us.

Well at least they have the safes spaces that they wanted so badly. Doesn't get much safer than being alone in your residence.

Must be shite they can’t go out and get on it way their mates for 2 weeks, my heart bleeds 😂

THEIR MENTAL HEALTH!!!! NEWSFLASH!! EVERYONE IS SUFFERING!

Guess they’ll be wanting a pass before they even start now?

These kids are supposedly the best in uk? Prove it.

Get on with it you nuggets. Generations before us had to survive much more with much less. End of debate.

And mine too working in the NHS. So is my husbands trying to keep his business afloat. So is my daughter who can’t go out and socialise with all her friends, and my Mum who has to pick between her 2 children as to which family to join for Christmas. getagrip

This is an insult to people with genuine mental health issues, try having depression, or being homeless, or caring for a parent with dementia or a child with special needs. Having to stay inside at Uni does not equate mental health issues.

While there will inevitably be some over-dramatising, its still amazing that for £9k pa per student universities couldn't come up with a coherent way to give the students a positive start to Uni life, which lets face it is likely the biggest thing they've faced so far in life.

After lockdown just go back home to mummy and daddy

But wasn’t it the students who were pushing for university to start as it would impact on their future?

Oh dear bless their hearts! Com on is not nazi camps

Love how media push these headlines to annoy people and get more traction. It’s a ploy people let it go.

They knew what it was going to be like so if they had doubts they should have deferred - too many are bought up like snowflakes so have no resilience to get in with it !!!

They have only been back at university for 5 mins, do me a favour! Appreciate it might not be the fun experience it usually is, but come on!

Boohoo....there are people everywhere isolating and staying safe and they are having mental health issues as well, but they get on with it as are the rest of us as we want lockdown to end soon..

Big businesses are having to close, many covig patients don’t survive and families lost their love ones, many don’t have jobs and can’t pay for mortgages, doctors dying ...and here’s student complaining about being back at Uni! God help them please!

They shouldn’t be there, the spike was always going to happen. Come, move in with 6, 9 others you don’t know from anywhere. You might get on? But you cant go out and meet others if you don’t. Oh and the teaching you get will be online, you could have done it from home.

Backbones

Generation snowflake.

Why is there always something wrong with ppl nowadays?

Let’s hope that none of you hard nuts ever struggle with your mh because believe me anyone can suffer, even you toughies

Them poor souls having to actually study we need to do more 😪

Young people have suffered way too much during this pandemic. These poor kids loosing out on life- they will never get this time back, and racking up thousands in debt for the privilege. Time to start living ffs. Open up the country. Support the vulnerable.

Just get on with it n get on piss

You should have stayed at home

Well many young people of today want something to protest about, I expect they will be out on the streets protesting their mental health now.

Students are back so need something to complain about again!

Probably the same students who was saying not being at Uni is fucking up their education

Coming from Oxford, I have difficulty believing that. 🤔 Being slung out of our pubs at 22:00 and more Police about - preventing them from urinating and defecating in our shop doorways is more likely to 'impact their mental health.' 🍺💩

Everything seems to affect this generations mental health.

Poor little darlings.😂

Kids seem less resilient these days, I blame Climate Change, because they think, that it’s real. This is likely Because they bombarded about it 24/7 backed up with untold likely’s could’s and all other maybes..and then add a pandemic (which is real) and Voilla! Meltdown town!

Bloody snowflakes. How are they going to be ready for the real world

What about me culture is pathetic.... Grow some Tinkerbell, in this world there are people starving and living in the streets and dying. Stop complaining about having to watch Lorraine, This Morning and Homes Under The Hammer and get used to it.... It's what the uni experience is

Then why go?

Soft twats

They’ve also got nobodyto cook their Christmas Dinner😢

I really feel for them. Suicide rate is already up. Lockdown policies has already killed more young people from suicide than Covid ever did

They shouldn't be in school, with modern technology the first 6 months of this academic year should be on zoom.

Lol the headline is students struggling with mental health and all the comments are like 'boo boo, good!' 😂 Why does everyone hate young people so much?

How weak western society has become.

And they wonder why they are often referred to as Snowflakes!

Go home then

No impacts your mental health

Very important😟🤔

Generation ‘W’ for whining. Seriously toughen up, we’ve all had a tough year

No one forced them to go to uni ? They could have put it off a year.

Booho. Talk about spoilt brats.

Aw diddums, something else for them to complain about

Students these days have to take eye-watering loans to pay for their degrees. Lack of proper teaching and for many a lack of practical work is unfair and will impact their chances long term in a highly competitive market. This isn't just about lack of partying

All of U.K. mental health suffering . It’s called a pandemic . Students no different to rest of us. We are all living though this virus the best we can. Stop partying and get your laptops out, at least you are having contact with people .

Time to vote out the SNP bigots? 🤔

OK but I think many people who have lost their jobs facing isolation etc are suffering the same “mental health” problems. We are all suffering.

honestly everyone uses the term 'mental health' as a crutch to get what they want or be lazy and have excuses for anything. Makes me feel bad for the people genuinely struggling for from experience they're the ones that don't constantly complain about 'mental health'

It helps if you can wipe your own arse.

Mental Health - or nerves. Mental Health is used to often by many people today, when it is just worry, nerves, which is normal. Too many dont understand mental health but play the mental health card. I do know you know......🤔

Oh FFS. How many were complaining about Government interference in their education?...

This is getting into first world problems territory.

And all done on incoorect Figures, a minimum of 93% of cases are False positives, the Sky and BBC can only keep up these lies for so long, before even the mass of Sheeple start seeing through it.

They've just started !

Totally understand.

the mental health impact from this insidious time will be felt for generations.

Protect your mental health with hard facts... BreesAnna - FYI 👇🏻

I love the people here that have no clue what it's like to have any kind of mental health problems thinking they get to talk shit

They have to isolate for 2 weeks if they come from a different country. What they are really moaning at is they can’t go out and get drunk with their friends is what they are really meaning

Given the state of things, there's not a lot can be done. Take comfort from the fact that the times impacted far more harshly on those of your age in 1914, and be grateful for small mercies.

Perfectly understandable they are not alone

Left wing softies just wanting to speak out against government. They’d be fucking crying saying “Boris is denying us our education” if he said they’d be closed. Run to your little safe spaces 🙄
