As students receive their exam results, what are the choices facing them this autumn?

Results for A-level and vocational students in England, Wales and Northern Ireland will be published on Thursday.

Together with Scottish students, who received results last week, many will be hoping for the grades they need to secure a university place. Will universities be open as normal in September?which replied to a Universities UK surveyThis will be part of a "blended approach" to teaching and learning, with many universities announcing that lectures will be given online.

You need to contact individual universities or check their websites to find out what they have decided. You had to make two choices - a firm first-choice university and also a back-up choice. You must then decline any other offers.Even then, you are not committed to going if you choose not to. Places at specific universities can be cancelled online, and if you decide not to go to university at all,Will universities charge full tuition fees?even if their courses are taught online in the autumn.

Whatever process in place will be unfair as girls seem to do better in course work while boys do better in exams but everything that's been done for covid is a situation where we're all dealing with things differently. 2020 a tough year!!

Does the BBC interview just middle class kids? Where are the working class in this report?

i think i met one person in my entire life who wound up doing what they studied at uni for a living .

Great results= Career✓Happiness✓ Partner✓ Poor results= No job/Poor job✓ Recurring depression✓ Alcohol & drug abuse✓ Singledom✓

Nobody cares

BBCScotlandNews Accept it or appeal or resit. End of.

It’s another postcode lottery and a complete shambles perhaps all of these potential Tory voters will think twice about voting next time after having their dreams shattered.

Nothing. Universities will be half shut. No jobs will be available in any case.

Defer. Uni's supposed to be about experiencing new things, exchange ideas, learning, not be locked to a computer screen all the time. You can't beat being there in person for some things. If it was me I'd defer, take a year out. Why experience half measures for the same price?

One study reveals that only 1 in 43 British white girls seriously think of studies. Nearly all think of them think of boyfriend thrice in five minutes. White British parents also can't know what their daughters think..

food delivery drivers ..thats about it ..thanx to govt diktats killing hundreds of thousands of our jobs

COVID19 coronavirus

Screech or grow up.

What? No fiasco? No sacrificed generations?

BBCScotlandNews MacDonalds or a job at the bbc I know which one is more respectable (hint it’s not bbc)

One thing is for sure... It's time for ResignBoris to get trending. What do we want? ResignBoris! When do we want it? ResignBoris now! ResignBoris ResignBoris ResignBoris

it's a disaster. So many downgraded and already being rejected from first choice uni without being able to appeal using mock grades in the first place. Totally unfair and seemingly random grades for some pupils. Never been below AAB outcome BBC, AAA outcome AAC. Very wrong

BBCScotlandNews If BBC Shortbread is going to retweet this English stuff it does seem odd that they aren't hysterically screaming FIASCO and calling for resignations. Unlike elsewhere.........

University is a complete waste of time now. Don't be conned!

if i were in their position i'd defer, the uni experience will be so different for the next year & that's part of what people enjoy. for those who go, expecting a reduction in course fees is ridiculous, you don't expect a cheaper shopping bill using home delivery v physical shops

BBCScotlandNews Nothing , we will get a second wave of C19 the way the under 25s behave ..... the country is fucked

BBCScotlandNews Under the tories CHOICES have become a thing of the past.

They will all have to be Amazon drivers. Thousands of science positions will go empty, Uni,s will have thousands of empty spaces on courses.

Current mood over at UCAS AlevelResults

Sweet FA?

Don't bother going. Paying all those fees & coming into a market that will still be recovering from the worst recession in history, ie an 'L' shaped depression.

Not if your an Ashton Sixth Form student we are still waiting, they have tech issues 🙄🙄😭😭

Is the answer Deliveroo or Just Eat?
