Epidemiologist and SAGE member Professor John Edmunds says it is 'rather dangerous' to ease lockdown before the track and trace system has been proven to be working effectively. Read more here:

cases - known as the incidence - continued to stay at a relatively high level, despite the fall in the reproduction number.

Yet he said the decision about where to set the number of cases was"clearly a political decision, not a scientific decision", because there was a trade-off between"the impact of the disease" and"the impact of theSir Jeremy said the newly-introduced NHS test and trace system needed to be"fully working" before measures were eased.

"TTI has to be in place, fully working, capable dealing any surge immediately, locally responsive, rapid results & infection rates have to be lower. And trusted.", which measures the speed of the spread of the virus, the number of cases is an equally important factor in determining the number of deaths.

So what does he want to do, keep us all locked up like lab rats.......🤔

I have to question the motives of this man, he in essence is briefing against his SAGE colleagues. My view is the 50+ scientist may not agree on every aspect of the advice they find a consensus on/give to the Gov but they're not actively trashing/undermining the consensus view.

Wasn’t he the guy who just a couple of months ago said herd immunity was the way to go? Asking for a friend🤔

Why do you never find the positive ones to speak to? They cant all be negative

Where's the app for Johnsons 'world beating' track and trace, surely it should have been tried and tested before easing the lockdown?

Will be interesting to see if we follow majority of other countries where loosening of restrictions has not seen a 2nd peak . If so maybe Sky can have this guy back on in July and interrogate why this is his opinion. They could also maybe visit his parents home

But there are not 8000 new infections a day, that’s a complete lie

Still following the science?

Too risky to the 0.3% of people that may die from Covid.

And the experts who say no issues with easing lockdown are ignored by ScumMedia !

looks and sounds life the right person to make decisions which will affect the nation ...don't you think! ask him why he is going public!

What happened to listening to the sceince BorisJohnson notmovingon

Interesting because you had a scientist on Sky with Sophie Ridge the other day that totally disagrees with everything SAGE have done saying it's he believed lockdown been too long too harsh and has only contributed to the disaster that is.

Do these plonkers a) not look at the evidence from other countries, which shows it's fine b) not consider the far greater risks and collateral damage caused by lockdown and c) all the evidence that lockdowns don't work anyway? Where is the challenge to these 'experts'?

The ship of fools have us bob bob bobbing along to herdimmunity

These people had their day. Stop hiding the truth and let us free.

I hope he was as vocal at the SAGE meetings behind closed doors and not just nodded his way though and then decided to contact the MSM for his 15 mins of fame.

MSM still pushing their agenda that we should all be locked indoors for months to come

Glad to see the government doing as they say and following the scientific advice on this matter!

hedging his bets to avoid blame perhaps on R4 a lot of use of the word 'may' no one knows of course but reality is that the nation is ready to be released
