By August, as more restrictions were eased and the summer break began, happiness scores were back at pre-pandemic levels at 7.2 out of 10. On 10 July, just over 9% said they had gone out to eat to eat or drink in the last week, increasing to 38% on 28 August. Other findings include strong support for face coverings, despite contradictory early advice on their effectiveness.
