Boris Johnson has been urged to apologise after he angered care home bosses by claiming 'too many' in the sector 'didn't really follow the procedures' during the coronavirus crisis

"This sector has looked after some of the most vulnerable people through this pandemic.

Vic Rayner, executive director of the National Care Forum, which represents 120 of the UK's social care charities, welcomed the prime minister's recognition of the need for proper funding. "It is worth remembering that in February, the government agency Public Health England told homes it was 'very unlikely that people receiving care in a care home will become infected' and that homes didn't need to do anything differently.

"What is clear is that a public inquiry needs to be expedited and the prime minister's comments imply that he feels the same," he added.

And I have no respect for politicians who failed to control their borders when WHO Declared this Chinese Virus is pandemic , all governments worldwide have blood on their hands but they are too coward to admit it😡🤑🤑🤨🤧😎

Liz Kendall might be right. What happened in care homes will be revealed. Whilst many are privately owned government is quick enought to regulate them and as such it seems obliged to issue operating guidelines in the pandemic but did it & what about the local authority threats?

joncraig

Liz Kendal what another embarrassing labour lot

Shadow minister TOTALLY WRONG your a disgrace gov are not responsible for private carehomes who pay peanuts this means some careres work in other homes thus spreading virus, over 80 percent are private their responsibility to fund their own personal protection, typical labour crap

How many carehomes are privately owned ? How many owners dipped into their own pockets for the right equipment? How many owners pay Crap money? How many of those workers work in other homes thus results in th spread of the virus?gov not responsible for private homes,PM is right

Politics Care homes and fat people, there's probably more sports people draining health service than fat people

Of course they would. Everyone on the left gets offended. Bless them.

Stop flashing your eyes woman and living through your teeth !

And there it is, the start of gov't blaming everything except themselves. It won't be long before they're blaming the next spike on the public for not adhering to the rules properly, even though the rules are vague as hell.

Many people shocked and appalled by the sweat shop conditions of clothing factories in Leicester and by the fact that one of it’s MPs Liz Kendall was either blissfully unaware of what was going on in Leicester or chose to turn a blind eye to exploitation of poor ethnic workers.

joncraig Yeah but the thing is the government can do and say what they want for the next 4 years. What can be done

I wasn’t aware the PM ran care homes! What I am aware of is that blame for COVID19 deaths is the responsibility of Communist China. Divert indignation & accountability in that direction!

Won't be hard........check who owns a lot of these care homes

Kendalls faux outrage again.......this woman lives in outrage.

The boris blame game has started the government didnt plan for it so they blame the care system they couldnt get ppe in quick enough boris and his government should take some of the blame and stop passing the buck

He was right. They just don’t want to hear it.

Every care home in my borough has zero covid deaths ..because they took action ..the staff went above and beyond ..amazing effort

Appalled but far from shocked, I would be shocked if the PM and his ministers admitted when they are wrong, their handling of the pandemic has been shambolic...

Well, was he right? Might be useful to find out before the usual anti-Boris machine cranks up.

I have met a poor private care home owner ... in fact the ones I know are millionaires..... of course they should have done more ..

Why not many are private and run for profit- it’s their responsibility to care for their residents and have business continuity plans in place. Even the local authority run ones- what are Managers for?

Why are these Labour MPs doing something about this!

Ive worked in a few care homes and homes for people with special needs. The owners of these homes charge top dollar, pay staff minimum wage and give the residents as cheap as food as possible. Its all about profit.

How are those sweatshops leicesterliz

Should see how many care homes are slaughtered by CQC. Lets not forget my nans was charged hundreds a week to stay in these homes. Not saying all are the same, but i have seen some complete shit holes and reported many before we found a decent one for my nan.

Your right but he won’t care.

Boris know what he doing he under a lot of pressure just let him get on with his job if he has mistake he will rectify it 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Did you ask her about the slaves in Leicester?

How do the care homes NOT have some responsibility for this? Chuffing hell!!!

Liz Kendall supporting the rich owners of the care sector. Who'd have thought it!!
