World Bank President David Malpass says billions of people will have their livelihoods affected.

Mr Malpass warned it's been those who can least afford it who've suffered the most.

The World Bank, along with its counterparts, has been providing support to the worst affected countries, but says much more is needed. He would also like them to make the terms of their loans clearer, so other investors are more confident about putting money into those economies. Investment and support would create jobs in areas like manufacturing, to replace those in the worst affected sectors, such as tourism, which may have been permanently lost.Mr Malpass admits the damage to global trade, and inclinations to bring supply chains closer to home or erect trade barriers, are a challenge.

Its bit of blow for the family of loved ones that have died as well!!!!

Well you don’t say. 🤦‍♂️

The coronavirus is not the blow, it's the insane response to it, namely 'lockdown', that's the problem

We need to kill there hold on the real People not there chosen few!!! 1Love 1 World

And getting worse with the protests

In Thailand (same size of population) died 60 people from coronavirus. In Britain 40.000. Excellent NHS. But... Black lives matter!

You ALL behave like the ''HALOED WORLD ECONOMY'' is like a god, not to he messed with or poked because the rules say the money must flow somewhere... usualy TO the folks who need it least.. ITS OUR WORLD, OUR ECONOMY there is no need for everyone to suffer so the rich stay rich

Helped along the lies & disinformation of a lying media pushing disease porn for month after month.

No, really?

America attacked Iraq under Saddam Hussein with the excuse of terrorism. How do you want to attack Iran, Saddam Hussein's enemy? Is it a war against terrorism or a war against humanity? Iran has fought terrorist Saddam Hussein for many years in the American perspective.

Corona is as innocent as lamb from this. It is the stupid unscientific computer modelling whose results could be manipulated in millions different ways draconian unrealistic response to it.

An UNNECESSARY devastating blow for the world economy. Massive failure of leadership. Unwarranted hysteria. Unjustified restriction on freedoms and civil liberties. US politicians should be tossed in cells to rot. POTUS GOPChairwoman WhiteHouse GOP TheDemocrats MAGA

Not for World economy, Its Devastating blow for world POOR PEOPLE economy

Poverty is man made coursed by greed and corruption

The BBC should do the right thing and sack all its white employees and replace them with black people

IT TRULY IS.
