A Conservative MP who urged people not to be "litter tossers" has been fined for dropping a cigarette.

Durham North West MP Richard Holden was caught outside an election count at the Louisa Centre in Stanley, County Durham, on Saturday and fined £100. Surely the ruling elite, as they like to think of themselves, are EXEMPT from such trivial matters?

In Weymouth you can be fined £75 for dropping litter. But if you go to Jubilee Sidings, a small trading estate near the seafront, the bins near McDonald's overflow and the rubbish blows through the streets and no-one is fined. Getting fined is the luck of the draw.

£100 will mean not a thing to him. The court should have made him walk the streets for half a day for three or four days picking up litter and butts.
