Many economic assessments of the climate crisis “grossly undervalue the lives of young people and future generations”, Prof Nicholas Stern warned on Tuesday, before theEconomists have failed to take account of the “immense risks and potential loss of life” that could occur as a result of the climate crisis, he said, as well as badly underestimating the speed at which the costs of clean technologies, such as solar and wind energy, have fallen.
An abject failure in real world economics, Stern succeeds by telling his new paymasters what they want to hear…succeeds in securing his income. Bjorn Lomborg gets it more right for me.
Everyone has a slight bias for the present and, apparently, economists are no exception. When I see these stories, I have no idea which predictions about climate change are really accurate and which are exaggerated. To me, it just makes sense to plan for the worst.
