Armed troops are barracked in a stadium in Shenzen, where citizens seem to back them

There was an uneasy sense of calm on Sunday in Shenzhen, the Chinese city on the other side of the bay from Hong Kong where hundreds of troops from the People’s Armed Police [PAP] have been deployed in a show of force that the government in Beijing has called an anti-terrorism manoeuvre.

Too bad we have a wimp for a President here in America. Trump should be warning China to stand down. The people of Hong Kong have my respect. Do we, here in America, have the spine to stand up like that for our rights?

Isn’t it reassuring living in a country that only allows the police and military to own weapons? They would never turn them on their citizens.

But I fear for HongKongProtesters wanting to retain their traditional democracy. It's essential for Bejing that they harmonise with China's communism otherwise they will remain a threat to the long term maintenance of Communism in China.
