Fans went wild as former Casualty co-stars Amanda Mealing and Jane Hazelgrove shared snaps of them working together on the ITV set

The actresses, who played Connie Beacham and Kathleen ‘Dixie’ Dixon in the long-running BBC medical drama, shared a selfie from the Corrie cobbles as they joined forces once more - but this time to work on the ITV soap.Amanda, who recently joined Corrie as a director, posted the photo on Twitter, explaining to her followers that she was excited to be working with her friend Jane, who plays Bernie.

Casualty fans were quick to pick up on the reunion, telling Amanda and Jane that they were thrilled to see them side by side again.One said: “Always be Connie and Dixie. Miss you both in Casualty.” While another added: “Can’t wait so excited nice to see old cast reunited.”

A third said: “Great pic of you 2 casualty legends” as more fans said it was amazing to see them back together again.Others called for the pair to return to the popular BBC show where they first acted opposite one another.One Casualty fan said: “You both need to come back to casualty.” While another chimed in: “Omg reunited once again. Wrong show though! She looks like a really good laugh.”

Earlier this year it was revealed that Amanda, who also appeared in Holby City in her eighteen years playing Connie, would be joining the team at Coronation Street to work behind the scenes.The news emerged when Amanda tweeted that the Queen had been to visit the cast on set, saying: “Well, not often HRH herself pops in to my work! Ha!”

However, she remained tight-lipped about what exactly she had been filming and which members of the cast were involved.Previously opening up about her love of working behind the camera, as well as in front of it, Amanda explained: “Directing is something I definitely want to pursue. I’m very keen on it.”
