The extra wide tutus helping the Birmingham Royal Ballet get back on stage

It is the first one-act ballet commissioned and presented by Acosta since. It is also due to be performed at Sadler's Wells in London at the end of the month.

The influence for their costumes came from the crinoline skirts worn by fashionable women in the 19th Century to protect themselves from smallpox, cholera - and unwanted male advances. "The movement is dictated by them and the dancers have been fantastically adaptive and collaborative. Both male and female dancers wear them and so far there have been no upsets."From voluminous gowns gracing the catwalk, to puffball skirts being back in vogue, socially distanced fashion seems to be having a moment and is now gliding into the dance world.

Nature is at the heart of Lazuli Sky, which stands for "bright blue sky" and focuses on the upsides of the pandemic, such as open skies and birdsong, rather than the downsides. It's also an apt title for Acosta personally as he spent lockdown with his family in "gorgeous" Somerset in south west England.

This is pure Monty Python!

Good thinking. I think we should wear them when we leave our houses. Might be a struggle getting into the car though.

lemme say: DUMB AS HELL

Viruses don’t play by social distancing rules 🙄

Creativity in action 🥳

If you think extra wide tutus & masks are going to undo the fact that they're doing a fair amount of exercise in a confined space and doing lifts (very close contact) - then you believe in *magic*.

Good grief. What next, extra side bikini's

i see this catching on in nightclubs , high streets, football stadiums :D

Yes yes, embrace the madness.

Wouldn't it be a good idea for Swan Lake should be rife with bird flu as a reminder of possible animal transmission of viruses?

Dear me 😳
