I realise this is going to be an unpopular opinion , but hear me out! Am I the only mum who finds pumpkin picking a real waste of money? What is it about driving to a muddy field in the cold, and often wind and rain, to 'pick' a pumpkin that has been placed in the field by the farmer? When the trend started a few years back I assumed the pumpkins were growing there, but no, they're placed there, for you to pick.... up.
There's a farm near us that opens up about now every year, there's a pop-up marquee where you can buy everything from hot dogs and burgers to hot chocolate and chocolate brownies, before or after you go into the field for the big pumpkin hunt. There are wheelbarrows you can use to collect your loot and it does make for a nice hour out (for them).
