“I need to have smoothness and still feel snatched and sucked in a dress,” Kardashian explains, smoothing her hands over the sides of her body. “I wanted you guys to see how necessary it is [to wear shapewear]. If there’s one show that we’re going to be thinking about for a long time to come, it’s definitely . Because if I was wearing this dress without shapewear, you’d see cellulite and I wouldn’t feel as confident.' Optimistic: The 41-year-old mogul declared, 'I believe in love.” Kardashian, who typically wears a UK size 6, debuted her solutions-based shapewear line Skims in September 2019, and according to estimates, sold $2 million (£1. For the uninitiated, Yellowjackets follows a high-school soccer team in 1996 whose plane crashes in the Canadian wilderness leaving them stranded.6m) of product within the first few minutes, numbers that are “unprecedented for shapewear and undergarment brands”.

In its three-year existence, Skims has amassed a cross-platform social media following just shy of 10 million, including 1. Over the course of the first season, we witnessed everything from wolf attacks and cult-like rituals to seemingly supernatural forces at play – but if there’s one thing about this show, it’s that there always seems to be more questions than answers. Marriages come and go!' she joked, poking fun at her three failed unions.3 billion views on TikTok. It’s stocked at Net-a-Porter, Selfridges and Harrods and has collaborated on a sell-out collaboration with Fendi. Fortunately, we don’t have to obsess over the truth of what happened in the wilderness alone, thanks to the passionate fandom ( Yellowjackets r/yellowjackets ) that is cooking up some seriously impressive theories to explain the show’s disturbing events. Needless to say, it has redefined the shapewear standards previously set by its predecessors. Kim filed for divorce in February of 2021 and sent shock waves through her fanbase when she was first linked to Davidson last fall. One of Skims' Cotton range's campaign images. Come with as we go sleuthing… Adam is actually Javi Yellowjackets: Peter Gadiot as Adam Martin One of the most prominent theories around right now is that adult Shauna’s (Melanie Lynskey) handsome love interest Adam (Peter Gadiot) – who, by the way, she fatally stabs after discovering that he’s lied about his background – is actually grown-up Javi (Luciano Leroux), Coach Martinez’s youngest son and Travis’ brother.

Last week Victoria Beckham, who also wears a UK size 6, announced the expansion of her brand into shapewear with a capsule collection of body-contouring dresses, bralettes and leggings. VB Body’s pieces, Beckham confirmed in an interview, “really do cinch you in at all the right places and give you a nice round bottom or a defined waist”. The last time we see him, he’s alone and high on shrooms in the forest. In one episode of the beloved show Kim broke down in tears as she described trying to make the relationship work even though she knew it was doomed. VB Body’s campaign comprises seven images of a white and conventionally thin woman. Thanks to endorsements from some of the world’s most famous bodies, shapewear has never been cooler. Although Javi isn’t mentioned in the 2021 timeline, there are similarities to be observed between Adam and Javi. But what exactly do endorsements of shapewear from some of the world’s most honed and toned bodies say about our collective body image? Why would bodies that are objectively small and slim need to create, sell and indeed wear shapewear? VB Body's campaign imagery featured one slim white woman. 'She wasn't talking to her parents at the time,' Thomas said in a recent interview with VLAD TV.

“With big social events now back in our calendars, it’s perhaps no surprise we are seeing consumer interest in shapewear trending upwards,” Michael Robinson, retail trends analyst, says, pointing to the 270% spike in Google searches for “tummy control shapewear” since this time last year. Yellowjackets: Tawny Cypress as Taissa, Melanie Lynskey as Shauna and Juliette Lewis as Natalie And his death might have been recorded… Sharp-eyed Reddit user BigGur2221 noticed that when Shauna searches the bedside table in Adam’s apartment, we see a fleeting glimpse of a large video camera on top of the table. Skims’ sizes span the gamut from XXS to 5XL, while the VB Body range will run from a UK size 4 to 18. Despite living in the age of body positivity, isn’t it the unrealistic expectations that fashion continues to perpetuate that’s fuelled the current demand for shapewear? It’s hardly coincidental that, according to Google, searches in the last three months for “how to lose weight” have spiked by 250%, while searches for “body shaping undergarments” have simultaneously risen by 5,000%, according to WGSN. Yellowjackets: Christina Ricci as Misty Misty could have been working with Adam While all the characters in Yellowjackets have dark secrets, arguably no character is as troubling as Misty. Their marriage lasted three years before he filed for divorce in 2003. Fashion psychologist Carolyn Mair notes a correlation between the rise of shapewear with the rise of body consciousness. “The fact that body consciousness is so important in our society speaks volumes about how we see ourselves,” Mair tells Stylist . Reddit user YelhsaB has spotted potentially more suspect activity linked to Misty, however, in the form of a car number plate.

“What constitutes a beautiful body changes according to the zeitgeist, and today, we are bombarded with images of bodies more than ever before. Afterward it was revealed that the SKIMS founder was unable to zip up the iconic dress and was forced to leave it open, covering up her backside with a white fur shawl. Exposure to these images influences how we see ourselves as we compare ourselves to others and how we would like to look. It could be an important plot point in the second season, because there are hardly such things as coincidences in the world of Yellowjackets Yellowjackets: Rekha Sharma as Jessica Roberts and Christina Ricci as Misty Misty might actually be a serial killer If you’re of the opinion that Misty is the most unhinged character in Yellowjackets – and maybe TV full stop – then this one might not be such a stretch for your imagination.” “I’m tired of discomfort being synonymous with sexy," Lizzo has said of Yitty. Rather than empowering, as many shapewear specialists have claimed to do, surely then the spike in popularity of shapewear signals a move away from power and in the opposite direction. When Fallon proposes that Misty is a present-day serial killer, Ricci agrees that her character certainly exhibits the tendencies and temperament of one. Shocker: Kim shut down the Met Gala on Monday night when she arrived wearing Marilyn Monroe's $5 million beaded gown from 1962 'Oh my god! Yeah, can we use that tie and tie it, and keep it open?' Kim asks when she sees that the dress just about fits, in a video obtained by TMZ . Fashion consultant Laura Merritt has yet to find a shapewear line she feels supports her body rather than restricts it.

“I hate it; I am yet to find any shapewear that is actually good,” she tells Stylist . “I mean, that bunker was ready to go, pretty much. “I usually only wear it at functions like weddings if I want a smoother look, but that is about it, as it’s so restrictive and inevitably does make me feel bad about myself. During a red carpet interview Kardashian admitted she challenged herself to lose 16lbs in just three weeks in order to make it fit.”  A sign that things could be changing, Skims released its first adaptive collection this week. As a character that seems worryingly au fait with murder (see lacing Jessica’s cigarettes with fentanyl and her composure at the sight of Adam’s body for more details) we’d say this theory definitely ticks the believability box. That’s not to say there aren’t those changing the shapewear game and hoping to eradicate the connotations between shapewear and weight loss while doing so. Last month, Lizzo, who’s long been heralded as a pioneer of the body positivity movement, debuted Yitty , a new line of shapewear in collaboration with activewear brand Fabletics. One of the biggest unanswered questions from the show is what happens to teenage Shauna’s baby, which she conceives with Jackie’s high school boyfriend, and her future husband, Jeff. Marilyn - who died at 36 from a drug overdose the same year she wore the dress - is said to have paid $1,440 for the custom piece to the designer, and it holds the record for the for the most expensive dress sold at an auction, making it one of the most expensive dresses in the world.

The line runs the gamut of sizes – it offers shapewear in sizes 6X to XS – and, in a sign that things in the shapewear sphere are changing, the launch of Yitty has had a forceful impact on the ascent of size-inclusive shapewear. Data platform LoveTheSales noted a 72% increase in plus-size shapewear in the 24 hours following Yitty’s launch, a sign that shapewear may become genuinely more inclusive – both behind and in front of the camera. But thus far, there’s no mention of whether she actually gave birth or lost the baby, and adult Shauna doesn’t seem to think about the fate of the infant, either. “I’m sick of people telling me how I’m supposed to look and feel about my body,” Lizzo penned in a recent social media post. The former Mrs. “I’m tired of discomfort being synonymous with sexy. “She’s been dreaming that she’s giving birth to food, and then eating it? This is foreshadowing 101. Yitty isn’t just shapewear, it’s your chance to reclaim your body and redefine your beauty standard.

” Perhaps the contours of the shapewear industry really are shifting once again.” Definitely food for thought… Ben’s chances of survival aren’t looking good Samantha Hanratty as teen Misty and Steven Krueger as Ben Scott As the sole surviving adult in the wilderness, level-headed assistant coach Ben Scott (Steven Krueger) doesn’t have an enviable position, not least because he’s lost a leg in a plane crash and finds himself continually tormented by Misty, who has an unrequited crush on him. 'I didn't starve myself, but I was so strict. Sign up for our monthly deep dive into the world of luxury fashion.
