A café and shop plan could see a building in a 'poor state' transformed

A café and shop plan could see a building in a "poor state" transformed. The Aries Motor Centre on Loughborough Road in West Bridgford could soon be transformed into a café and shop, if new plans are approved by Rushcliffe Borough Council.

But the fresh plans would see a retail unit created as well as a café in the existing shell of the building. There will also be staff facilities, a kitchen for the café, and a new ‘feature’ stair as well as a passenger lift. The planning application does not list what type of retailer would take up the space. The majority of the ground floor is outlined for a retail purpose, while the first floor is mostly listed as 'Café and Specialist Retail'.

The Environment Agency has opposed the plans. This is because a Flood Risk Assessment has not currently been submitted, despite the prospective project being on land defined as having a high probability of flooding.
