A family-of-seven who had to live in a one-bedroom flat for more than a year have been awarded £6,000 after the local council was found to have not done enough to help them.

The Ombudsman said in this case Bromley Council should evidence how it will ensure all relevant staff are aware of their responsibilities in relation to assessing homeless applicants

Bromley Council accepted it had a duty to find the family a home after they received an eviction notice in 2019. But the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman found the council did not do enough to establish that the family was living in overcrowded circumstances and required interim accommodation."Had it done this it is likely it would have found the family homeless, eligible and in priority need. Instead it took 13 months too long to do this," the ombudsman said.

This is absolutely appalling from Bromley's Conservative Council. They lost 5 seats to LibDems in the local elections and if the Tory's lack of caring continues they will lose control over the Council in 2026.

A family of seven. Why are you hyphenating? It is not adjectival.

How about stop having kids if you don’t have the room?

Sadiq Khan slated over cannabis farm visit and decriminalise drugs bidHome Secretary Priti Patel has savaged Mayor of London Sadiq Khan's plans to legalise cannabis - telling him 'drugs ruin communities, tear apart families and destroy lives'. See him in that light shows how this schoolboy really is . Is that the same Patel that has the lowest crime conviction rates? 1.5% conviction rate for rape. I think she herself should concentrate on improving conviction rates. ToryIcompetence As much as I despise Khan, he’s not wrong on the issue of decriminalisation of cannabis - the drug laws in this country are a joke & in urgent need of reform - legalisation & taxation on cannabis is a win win

He’s looking happy there wonder why 🤣🤣🤣🤣 And Gove is on the next flight out hoping for a massive spliff when he gets there. Not sure I'd trust him to weigh up the scientific evidence on this one as he appears to believe that women can have a penis

First-class degree inflation questioned by watchdogFirst-class degrees were awarded to 38 per cent of graduates last summer and the majority of them cannot be explained, the universities watchdog said today as 'We believe the OfS must be careful not to assume that students with lower entry grades, typically from more disadvantaged backgrounds, cannot achieve first class degrees.” Good luck with that. It's basically a sacred tenet at this point. They can be explained. Students are customers now and they want first class degrees. My niece was awarded a First this year. She is a dyslexic halfwit who cannot string two sentences together.
