Sandeep and Reena Mander, both in their 30s, were told their chances of adopting would improve if they opted to adopt in India or Pakistan

However, they were told by the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Council that only white British pre-school children were available and their chances would improve if they decided to adopt in the sub-continent. However, Judge Clarke rejected the claim that Mr and Mrs Mander had also suffered discrimination under Article 12 of the European Convention of Human Rights and the right to ‘found a family’.
