Article 16 is the part of the deal which allows parts of the protocol to be temporarily suspended if they are causing serious difficulties or leading to diversion of trade.Ireland's Foreign Minister Simon Coveney has suggested the talks have a rough deadline of late December.
"I think that window is on offer now to the British government if they want to use it to find a way of implementing the protocol in a way that responds to the vast majority of the issues and problems that have been raised," he said.
The Tories agreed to the deal and that's it. EU please stand firm on this. Brexir has consequences.
