It comes after reports that protections including the 48-hour work week could be dropped.

Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng has denied that his department is preparing to dilute British workers' rights.

But Mr Kwarteng insisted he wanted to "protect and enhance workers' rights going forward, not row back on them". The FT said the proposals were being drawn up with the approval of Downing Street, but that they hadn't yet been approved by ministers or cabinet.

No, they just will receive less salary for the companies to be able to pay for the extra costs

Hopefully this will not preclude the removal of bonkers EU laws

Why would there be?....🥴

We have beard it all before..this gobpvernmrnts record in lies and consistency means we do not believe them on anything

Give it for granted, then.

This is obviously a lot of bollox.

Trust none of them, Just save a screen cap and then laugh when they lie but watch as nothing changes :^)

We have two issues here 1. A 'Government' who are not known for telling the truth. Why should we believe anything they say? 2. The BBC, a public service broadcaster, paid for by us, whose policy is to not call out 'Government' lies. Why should we believe anything you say?

Lies, lies, lies. KwasiKwarteng’s can’t move his mouth without lies coming out.

Which. Means. They. Will.

And do you believe him?

He's lying, you know it, he knows it we all know it

Why would we do that we have the best workers rights in the world, and took the lead in the EU

No plan....as yet.

thread

No one believes you. They swore environmental regulations would not be lowered. The very first week the scrapped the EU ban on deadly pesticides that wipes out Bees and all other pollinators. Then we eat the cereals sprayed with this poison. This has already happened. They lie

Translation: fuck workers. You will work as many hours as our cooperate donors believe you are good for.

You mean to say at some point that was on the table!!

I'd rather they did have plans, at least then we could be confident they would U-turn on them.

'YERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIGHT .......' 🙄

Anything beginning with “no plans to...” should ring alarm bells.

Yet.

Yet ........... no plans yet.

Of course there isn't. Project Fear is still out there!

And there never was such a plan

We all know by now that “no plans” is politician speak allowing them wriggle room. Well at the time we said it we had no plans, but now we do. A non-denial denial. Disingenuous!

How to figure out what Tories will do? Listen to what they say they'll do and expect the opposite.

God is he still there as he has been awful quite and clearly been pushed to one side as he was seen as a rising star but then as he as a reputation of .......... female MPs.

No plans. That they're ready to publish.

Let's see shall we

Like no plans to dilute environmental standards? Go tell it to the bees.

So obviously there IS a plan, and it will soon be unveiled to the usual fanfare by Telegraph, Mail and Express as “Helping British Business to be Competitive”.

So it’s kids back up chimneys, workhouses and debtors prisons, then

Put it in law then. Like they said agricultural standards wouldn't be lowered, wouldn't put it in law and banned pesticides were then unbanned......

The Irony of a black minister discussing changes that will create slavery

🤣 So there WILL be dilultion of rights then. This Gov't have zero credibility now. Just have to listen to the opposite of what they say.

95% only bad news(

Ironic that the EU is doing the very thing anti leavers said our govt would do

It is a matter of trust, and after the zillions of lies told by this Tory government, I can not understand anybody who has any trust in them.

Why is Mishal Husain the ONLY BBC journalist who has the desire and the skills to hold the powerful to account? Politely and persistently she challenges the deliberate, evasions, lies and bluster of ministers.

Oh good!! Yeah like we believe your every word NOT

Ahh see the remoaners are still moaning ... 🇬🇧

Yes, but we know tories lie in order to harm the British people.

So get over it remoaners 🇬🇧👍

Imagine be so stupid that you voted to give rich people the sovereignty to reduce your employment rights and wages.

No plans in other words yes there is dnt believe a word this government says i have lost all trust and respect for them, never will i trust the tories again

Deny deny deny - whoops 😬

Here we go.....it starts. workersrights ToriesOut BrexitDisaster

...and the deal is great for the British fishing industry.

Not sure British Gas employees would agree

Yet!

No 'plans'. But we're going to have to level-down to global labour standards whether we like it or not.

Nobody believes a Tory and nobody believes the BBC anymore!

Frictionless borders, PM promised. Cake and Eat it Freedom of movement will continue .. and er ...

How can anyone believe them anymore?

'Trust me, I'm a Tory'....

The ‘No plans’ part of this rings true. Pretty much everything else doesn’t.

This was reported on andrewmarr when he interviewed dominicrabb denied the UKGovernment plans to cut workers rights to save money from £8.6bn - £4. 2bn. Why do all politicians lie?

However, there is a lack of trust and cynicism towards the govt. Fully expect the govt to introduce a 'better' bill to limit the working week to 168 hours. To be fair the UK already has a 'reasonable overtime' clause and many employees are asked to opt out of 48 hrs limit.

promises promises ... let’s wait and see shall we minister as lies seem to come thick and fast from this MuppetShow govt 10DowningStreet

BS, this Gov't's words means nothing. Ask them ahem in a month and the answer will be different. There is a reason the gov't it called 'Turn about Tories'.

Of course any decent news outlet would caveat the minister's statement with some statistics about how many times this govt has lied since taking office.

So, workers rights are going to be diluted then.

You have to laugh at the double speak. So will there be plans tomorrow? I wonder if the think their supporters are stupid?

Yes. We trust the Tories to keep their word. They have proved so trustworthy in the past. LOL

They have fuck all rights left with Covid-Bollocks running riot

I have no reason to believe this government would lie to us about this; or anything in fact. 🙄

Which is code for “we’ve got a plan to dilute worker’s rights, but we’re not ready to announce it yet”

You know this will turn out to be a lie. It just isn't responsible journalism to give this the same weight as statements from credible sources.

Unfortunately he failed to complete the sentence with “yet” because he is not allowed to.

Yes another load of tripe broadcasted on a BBC program. Its obvious we scrap EU laws, it does not mean that values and rights won't be replaced with equivical rights/assurances. This is about Labour and the BBC wanting us to keep laws in EU terminology for a slipstreamed rejoin.

'No plans' is what they say when they can't say 'no' - gives them the wriggle room to explain later how through no fault of their own the plans have changed

That means it's on the cards....

Which roughly translates as “we’re going to utterly annihilate them.”

That means there are plans to dilute workers rights.

What do we reckon, keywords being 'no plans'. Thoughts and intentions but no plans of action, yet?

Ok, so „good bye workers rights” then. Cheers mate.

'We're making no plans, we're going to pay a tory donor to do that'

I fear Mr Kwarteng may be experiencing a warm sensation in the pants area.

i.e. We doomed

You mean corrupt Union leaders have to work for their wages rather than hide behind EU law now

And if you believe that, Boris has plans for a London Bridge to sell you.

Oh come off it. We all know “we have no plans” always means “the plans are still on the drawing board”

The only believable part is 'no plans'

This man really believes that taxation is theft and not a community collective Egalitarian response that improve lives* 2/2

They said they had no plan for an British border in the Irish Sea and also no worries about the fish piling up on the piers Post Brexit too. UK fishing industry is on its arse and the North of Ireland... Well! When will some people wake up and realise you can NeverTrustATory?

But you now have the means to......... I'll wait and see then

Which is political speak for ‘as soon as we can, when it will be least noticed, we will’ !

Aye, right.

Meanwhile...

Kwasi 'I'll poke fun of the Welsh' Kwarteng who has shagged half the Tory MPs?

He is the guy that wants the unemployed those that lose there job no fault of there own to pay back there JSA in a loan form . I know this because he actually said so in parliament. trust a word this man says I do not and either should you 1/2

Very believable

Liar

Mmm didn't this fella once write a book about Britannia in chains or something?

Friday, football club board: 'We have every confidence in this manager, he has our full support. Monday: *sacked*

Is this from thedailymash ?

'No plans' doesn't mean they're not going to do it. It means they're going to do it but don't have a plan. There's a surprise.

Umm....That means plans are afoot

So what he’s really saying is there are plans... 😂

If the British people believe that you weren’t listening to BorisJohnson

So there are plans to dilute workers' rights then.

The FT said the proposals were being drawn up .........., but that they hadn't yet been approved by ministers or cabinet. A government spokesperson said: 'We have absolutely no intention of lowering the standards of workers' rights.' More BBC rubbish

Right!

Six months later..............Ah when I said workers I was referring to people who work in the House of Commons that have the title MP

“There will be no more lockdowns” the PM

Really do you think all them delivery drivers in vans bringing your parcels are working less than 48 hours or have been throughout Europe for many years?

All fish will speak English

Bollocks

Brexit: No plans to dilute workers' rights, minister lies

It’s the Tories so I smell....

Whatever they say, they actually mean the opposite.

dilute - no obliterate - yes

Yet

'We have no plans to raise VAT after the election' 🤔

'There will be an adequate amount of food' - Dominic Raab MP
