BREXIT BRITAIN has been handed a boom in its plans to become a science superpower as another UK company is set to rival Elon Musk 's Starlink , while the EU's project appears to remain grounded.

They warned that it is becoming increasingly busy in space and companies are struggling to agree on how to operate their NGSO networks without causing harmful radio interference to each other.OneWeb, which was acquired from bankruptcy by the Government along with India's Bharti Global, recently declared itself “financially secure” after raising $2.4billion (£1.73billion) to roll out the remaining 650 satellites in its constellation.

TrendingThe London-based company has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BT to explore the provision of improved digital communication services to some of the hardest to reach parts of the UK. It comes after Paris-based Eutelsat also declared a $550million (£400million) investment in OneWeb, a move which is said to have angered some in Brussels.

Bharti will be the company’s largest shareholder with a 38.6 percent stake, while the Government, Eutelsat, and Japan’s Softbank will each hold 19.3 percent.Meanwhile, Mr Musk's Starlink – who are the frontrunners in this new space race – now has more than 1,500 satellites in orbit.
