Born after Friends began: Under-25s on why they love the show and how it has aged

The show's co-creator Marta Kauffman explained its evergreen appeal:"It's not dark, it's not twisted, it's not about corrupt people. It's comfort food."

In many ways, it was a simpler time."They're all communicating and paying attention to each other. In this age, everyone would just be texting on their phone, or the six of them would be around the table doing social media. We wouldn't get all the jokes that we've got because they wouldn't be engaging with each other."One criticism has been the glaring lack of diversity in the cast.

The show attracts a wide range of ages, she says."We've got loads of younger people in, tween age up to people who were in their 20s when it came out so are now in their 40s and 50s. It's great to have that diverse audience because they give different reactions." Her sister is 13, and is also a convert."She watches it and some of her best friends watch it. The fact that she can still watch it even though it's pre-her time is pretty amazing. It's a timeless thing."

All White, no Black, no Yellow, no Red, no Orange, no Olive, no Blue, no Green, no Pistachio... What r u? Racists?

Good comedy is like great music it crosses generations and is loved way after the years it was first written and performed.

How can anyone love it? It's joyless crap about a bunch of people using each other and other people.

Was awful to start with, and even more awful as it’s aged.

Loved that the studio was always very chilly.

Because under 25's are generally simple people with short attention spans?

My 16yo LOVES Friends. She has watched the whole series through twice 🤗

Could Friends *be* any more cringeworthy?

Seinfeld was the best of the era. Just forget about the final few eps!! 😬

Because they have no sense of humor?

I think it’s aged terribly. Makes me cringe

And in other news

But aren’t they permanently offended at the non pc bits in it?

My daughters (12 & 19) both love it. My youngest would watch it on a 24 hour loop if we let her.

Just like Mr. Robot another great show.
