Boris Johnson says 'we should look at positives' amid UK anti-racism protests

urged people to focus on the ‘positive stuff’ as thousands prepared to demonstrate against racism this weekend.

The PM added we should consider positives, which included more ethnic minority teenagers going to university and more black children doing better in school.Earlier in the day, Johnson issued a statement defending the statue of Winston Churchill in Parliament Square as a permanent reminder of his achievement in saving Europe from the tyranny of the Nazis.

The PM said in a statement: ‘It is absurd and shameful that this national monument should today be at risk of attack by violent protesters. Yes, he sometimes expressed opinions that were and are unacceptable to us today, but he was a hero, and he fully deserves his memorial.
