He cites the Laffer curve theory – yet it’s no more credible than a magic money tree, says Guardian columnist Polly Toynbee

This time next week the tumbril calls for Theresa May, that removal van freighted with symbolism. Boris Johnson will kiss hands the next day, not elected by us, not with our consent, no “one nation” unifier but leader of a dysfunctional, disunited kingdom. He will get the usual goodwill poll bounce: May and Gordon Brown had theirs.

Bollocks, but still theft either way.

Less credible than a magic money tree. Ask the MMT-ers.

Every government discovers a magic money tree when they need one.

I am poor, I do not think that the rich should be punished with sky high taxes. I think instead, where are my opportunities to become more successful? Taxing rich people will not give me any more opportunities, it might make some lefties feel good, but I am still poor...

It can, but that means you need to be in optimal standing within the British empire as well as with other nearby and far nations. Just send a DM when you need a roll of Duc tape BorisJohnson

Why the hell don't countries raise taxes anymore? Unless tax cuts are actually strategically implemented to empower middle & lower income, the only ones who benefit from tax cuts are the wealthy.

It is also shown that increasing tax rates does not bring in more revenue. What brings in more tax revenue is fair rates of tax, compliance and a growing economy

Good rule for life: Do the complete opposite of whatever Polly bloody Toynbe says or does.

Not just a myth anymore - a downright lie. Call it for what it is.

The only acceptable tax cut is a cut to VAT

Well.. It worked in the USA... 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂

They only help the wealthy. Take it from an American.
