All 737 MAX planes have been banned from flying since March after crashes in Ethiopia and Indonesia that together killed 346 people in a space of five months.
A $50m financial assistance fund was announced in July and will now be open to claims from family members. The bereaved family members will not be required to give up their right sue if they opt to take up money from the fund. Boeing said it assumes the 737 MAX will return to service in the US and other countries in the Autumn but could not give an exact date. However, last week Federal Aviation Administration chief Steve Dickson said Boeing was not yet ready to return the 737 MAX to service, with steps including submitting a pre-production version of a software update yet to be completed.
The 737 MAX began flying passengers in 2017 and is Boeing's best selling aircraft. Despite this, less than 400 have been delivered to airlines.
Thats good of them 🙄
Disgusting
Oh really first it was pilot training, then pilot error, then it was the wind, then there’s no food on board then ooops to was rush for profits, lets pay them off. Clever!!
Appalling. I hope the families sue for all Boeing's worth.
Should be millions!! boeing Boeing737Max unsafeplane Boeing
That's absolutely nothing its disgrace if they accept that minimum each family should get £50m they kill people
If the victims were white American, Boeing would give millions to the families
Seems well short given the decision to make $ rather than provide safety to its passengers!
Boeing Please make sure the families get these funds and not have them lost in their countries’ political maze!
Boeing: 'Sorry we knew the planes were bad, but still sold them anyways!' Boeing is handing over the equivalent of 1.5 Boeing 737 MAX planes sold. That's like the company pulling out some pocket change, and tossing it on the table. What a shame!
They knowingly and criminaly put those people's lives on the line...this is adding death to insult...the truth will come out...
