The Big Brother star says: 'The only way I’ve found I could move forward from my mistake was to educate myself'

Former Big Brother star Emily Valentine made headlines in 2007 when she appeared on the show, after her racial remark to fellow housemate Charley Uchea led her to be kicked out.

She continued: "The only way I’ve found I could move forward from my mistake was to educate myself and develop a much better understanding of what these racial slurs mean and why they are so awful. Emily has since started a series named Let's Talk About It, where she has open and honest conversations about race and racism in Britain.

"Influencing is my job and I have a platform with an engaged community so it seemed obvious that I should utilise this to bring awareness to issues surrounding race as a white person in the hope that other white people will watch and make this their fight too."She explained: "Having an episode on the worlds biggest TV show at the time dedicated to that exchange in the house, proved that not being racist was not enough for a white woman of privilege.
