Joe Biden has landed in Washington DC ahead of moving into the White House on Wednesday. The president-elect will go from Joint Base Andrews to the Lincoln Memorial with his wife, Dr Jill Biden, where he will hold a memorial service for the more than 400,000 Americans who lost their lives to Covid-19.

Danielle Zoellner1611091371Pence confirms he will skip Trump’s farewell to attend Inauguration Vice President Mike Pence’s office has confirmed he will be skipping Donald Trump’s planned farewell event as it coincides with Inauguration Day. 

This was confirmed in the daily schedule released by the vice president’s staff each day. Mr Pence’s schedule for Wednesday showed he would be attending the 59th Inaugural Ceremonies alongside his wife, Second Lady Karen Pence. The president has planned a farewell event at Joint Base Andrews on Wednesday instead of attending the Inauguration of Joe Biden. He will become the first president in 152 years to not attend the ceremonies or welcome his predecessor into the White House.
