Lucy Darwin says she spent £4,700 on return flights to New York and was met 'by filth and someone else's sock'

A British Airways passengers has blasted the airline after claiming her premium economy seats were covered in stains, crumbs and an old sock.The couple were travelling to the Big Apple for the American Film Institute’s annual festival, but were ‘outraged’ at finding their seats filthy.

London-based Lucy then posted another shot showing the tray table covered in dark stains and more crumbs, explaining: ‘It got worse… cabin staff embarrassed and kind but this really is appalling.’She told Metro.co.uk: ‘Apart from the filthy seat and tray table, there was a used bag and when my husband opened the in flight magazine liquid and food debris fell on to his lap.British Airways responded to the tweet by saying: ‘This certainly isn’t what you should expect when travelling with us, Lucy.

‘We know that our customers value a comfortable cabin, so our aircraft are cleaned after every flight.’
