Mvuemba had prefaced her showcase with a series of clips highlighting the impact of mining in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, an issue Mvuemba was keen that her designs should reflect. . The impact on the country and its people has been immense: the air and water is polluted with toxic chemicals, and children as young as six have been put to work in mines.
