Football stinks rotten. So far removed from real life.

Shameful, given the outrageous money players are paid. Are they starting with the Board of Directors?

Do they really think that making 55 people (probs most on zero hours/minimum wages) redundant is undermining them in their squad investment, especially as Ozil hasn't kicked a ball for his £350k a week.

How about reducing the wages of the players just a tiny bit to keep them on. I'm sure the players would have a genuine concern for the families of these unfortunate employees and would do everything in their power to help them in these problematic times. Right?

As a proud Gunner I'm disappointed for the club to make ordinary people redundant while paying our footballers tens of thousands a day.

Ladies and gentlemen, Stan Kroenke.

Assuming an average of 50k per year, that’s £2.75m for all 55 for a year. That’s just under 2 months of Ozil. It’s a drop in the ocean. Kicking their own people to the curb at the worst possible time.

People are missing the point by focusing on the players. Its the ownership & management that needs to be challenged. Poor decision from Arsenal

Arsenal continue to invest in Mesut Özil Gunners

Start with that Sideshow Bob muppet you're running at centre-back.

I used to love football but the spirit of the game has gone. Shame on you Arsenal! If I were a fan I would boycott!

🤔🤔🤔

Keep the jobs, get rid of Ozil.

At the end of the day, it’s a business.

lol…well good to know they’re cutting where it’s needed, rather than in the £230m plus wage bill of the players, most of whom could probably take a 50% wage cut and not even notice it.

Schoolboy error !

Yet again faux outrage at footballers salaries, nobody pipes up when 1000s are getting laid off at companies all over the country while ceos are still being paid huge bonuses.

For ‘invest in the team’ read ‘throw silly money at the wages of players’. This is the kind of euphemism the government uses.

as an Arsenal fan, I'm extremely disgusted

The playing squad comes first.

How about the vastly overpaid players take a 10% pay cut to avoid redundancies. Won't miss that 20th supercar. Really disgusting.

Get rid of Ozil and you're sorted. A bit of a joke keeping £300k/ week useless players on payroll yet when in financial trouble starting the cut with general staff.

What joke....

Please let it be Ozil.

Way to destroy the good feeling around the club these last few days. What a fucking joke.

I have a great idea - pay the players less. Duh.

What? The whole squad?

Yep, overpaid footballers are much more important than ordinary working people.
