Leicester, the first city in the UK to be put in local lockdown, will not get extra financial support from the government

Charlotte Foy, landlady of the White Horse pub in Birstall, said she was worried people would not feel confident to go back out once the lockdown was lifted.

So far, 24 June has seen the highest number of positive tests in Leicester of any day since the pandemic started with 97 confirmed results.the latter of which has only recently been added to the local figuresAs of Wednesday, the city has the highest rate of confirmed coronavirus per head of population in England with 1,136 cases per 100,000 population. The next highest is Bradford with nearly 792 per 100,000.

penalty for being nudity 👀🤔🤷‍♂️😷

Leicester police are using aiding liars and thugs who thief if anyone Police use the station as white whore houses

Ask the BLM movement for a hand out

This has been going on for over 30 years. The Labour run council have done nothing to address it despite many reports highlighting it. So, why should the Government suddenly stump up for it? The council would probably spend the money elsewhere anyway

So what will it be after it’s shut down. This is how place names change

Soulsby will only spend it on over inflated housing and covering up the bame factory scandal

Soulsby is past retirement age and unfit to run the city. As a good leftie he should move aside as he’s taking the job of someone in working age 👍🏽

Andy_Gez_ Good, They do not deserve taxpayers money, when they openly support sweatshops which have not adhered to lockdown. I think all these cities now should start taking the Covid advice seriously, as well as looking into slave labour. within their communities.

Unfair

....anyone taken to court yet for modern slavery..°

Has anyone thought about new parents in the Leicester or Leicestershire area, still in lockdown, no support services, mental health impacted. maternitypetition

Rather spend money to dismantle HW network than giving to their own citizen who needed these cash badly for businesses and livehood....

Andy_Gez_ Behave, like the majority of the country then. The tax-payer has no wish to encourage your deriliction to good behaviour.

If Gov did offer Leicester extra financial help I wouldn’t put past other local Govs being lax in their efforts to contain the virus if it meant them receiving extra Gov cash. Best wait until covid dies down completely & then help areas hit doubly hard.

Can't bail out every town who needs a lockdown. Councils should stop wasting money, the wages some of them pay themselves are obscene.

That’s because government blame them.

More misery more negativity no wonder no ones watching BBC 'news'.

Good! Maybe they'll follow the lockdown rules this time then

Boo hoo 😭

Rishi must be a Chelsea fan

Leicester_News decides to print own local ecurrency so locals can carry out local work and be paid after UK govt deserts them

Their own fault for not learning English.

Why should they They ignored rules.

If the locals could speak English and understand the rules and didn't breed like rabbits, probably wouldn't have to close the City again !

Leicester is a shithole

But they still played footy there, so....

Keepthe folk out of the sewing factories and they wouldn’t be in it now.

Just open up the shops and businesses. Ignore this pathetic government.

Should have followed the direction, stay home. Perhaps they'll learn the meaning of 'Social Distancing'.

How to ensure people don’t heed the lockdown.

This government is too awful 😫😠😡

Good, and should HEAVILY fine those breaking the rules too.

BBC news, you shouldn't really have interrupted that Asian doctor, what he had to say was very important.

Why would you reward them for breaking the law?

They’re getting £10 off meals out what more do they want?

They should have done better.

Sheanderthal I wonder why they are in lockdown ?

If the council had all all the necessary control measures in place maybe this would not have occurred? You don’t get cash for failing you residents. Ask the council why?

just this ⬇️🤔

So it shouldn’t

jackn_1 So what happens if it gets extended ? A lot of businesses although got assistance it was for a short period. Leicester has now had an additional lockdown brought on by government / council incompetence. Either open them or support them .

Leicester should have ignored the advice and opened.

Welcome to reaping the harvest, new Tory voters... You deserve all the crap you get

If the government force schools to open and encourage people to go to cafe and pubs nationwide it’s their responsibility to control local cluster infection and the council should receive financial support and freedom of how to spend it to support the community.

No sympathy, another city jumping on with BLM marches bandwagon while in lockdown . Obviously corona shouldn’t spread between thousands marching. Oh dear, how sad, never mind.

They can’t even ‘eat out’ RishiSunak

Good luck locking down any others then !

The government is damned if they and damned if they don’t. Joe public was screaming to go into lock down, Screaming to come out, screaming because they are losing money, screaming the government put money before lives.

I really do feel that you guys do not understand that the government didn't have to help anybody out. There was nothing stopping them from being like Bolsonaro. Your pocket note pad full of I'm a failed middle class candidate plastic socialism quotes simply describe the paint job

Well they don't need your vote for another 4 years so what did you expect?

EXCELLENT! Why should those ignorant bastards get any more extra help when they knew exactly what they were doing. SCUM!

BBC looked away like they did with Rotherham, Oldham etc.

Leicester was such a nice place 30 years ago. Full of hosiery buieness and friendly people. The kicker is.... we could see it going down the wrong path. If anybody said anything they were branded racists and demonised. Leicester city is evidence that multi culture doesn’t work.

Why are the Council being mentioned when it is the local businesses that are not getting any help whilst they are forced to close when others a couple of miles away are open? It is almost as if the Government wants the economy of the city to disappear.

Everyone has a brain - use it. Use common sense. It's a pandemic! Just keep your distance and be hygienic until this is over. It's really not that hard! This could all be behind us by now if everyone changed their attitude.

And ? It’s not the Government’s money it’s our money and we will have to pay it back in again...

extra restrictions without extra support. BorisJohnson

I would imagine if it was the city of Westminster it would be a different story.

Have to admire the creativity within Always manage to find a negative in any positive.

Yeah but next month they’ll get a tenner off when they go out fine dining

You can change the name to London the extra cash will roll in then

If it’s not in the south the tories aren’t interested

Of course not, Leicester is not in bloody Surrey you know

North of Watford .....what do you expect...he borrowed your votes....don't ever forget that....mugs !!

Should have followed the rules!! P.S. no black hole of money. ffs

Toffs back to nasty party

Shut your sweat shops and mosques....and isolate

The good old BBC? They will get the support everyone else gets? DefundBBC

Play stooopid games...win stupid prizes

damn straight, stay the fuck in doors and stop messing about

Here’s an idea. Rather than the government having to keep bailing everyone out. Why not heavily fine all those back street sweat shops and the companies they produce for and use that money to help where genuinely needed.

Listening is key ,

LauraHa15799415 Why is anyone surprised?

They're not going to give any money to their own instigated experiment.

Labour council and mayor failed Leicester people .

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 don't know what to do Laugh or Cry!!!!!🤔

Learn to behave seems to be the message

The government said it would to do 'whatever it takes.' Its disregard of Leicester's problems demonstrate that promise was worth as little as Johnson's promise of a Rooseveltian New Deal.

They’ve had it....and wasted it... ...as expected from Labour Council, Labour MP, Labour Mayor!

Exactly where to people think that the governments magic money tree grows? In the end, the tax payers will have to pay for all extra govt. spending brought about by COVID19

Maybe Boohoo would like to provide financial assistance instead:

Lifting the whole lockdown has only been driven by money motivation. This proves it. Greed by the rich where the working class has to continued suffer.

Vardy needs to have a word. He could turn this round Leicester

The mayor of Leicester need some money to buy a new ladder

No vaccine, but to hv a antidotewhich helps relieve symptoms -yes.

Perhaps they can start by learning our language? Just a thought.

Wow that's a bit rough.

Nor it seems are 3 million other people including people who provide the BBC with services like staging, lighting, entertainment etc

And so it begins-i really do fear we could end up with scenes like this if we don't get a vaccine before the end of October! CoronaFarce
