Under current trade union laws, employment businesses are restricted from supplying temporary agency workers to cover for strikes

Labour criticised the plans saying they risked public safety.

"The government appear to have learned nothing from the P&O scandal, which resulted in multiple safety failures and the grounding of vessels. "It's no wonder business leaders oppose it as much as trade unions do. It's just another Tory tactic to inflame more disputes in the country they should be leading, not dividing."

"But ministers are more interested in cynically picking a fight with unions than reaching a negotiated settlement.

Unions are just a mafia.

You need a PTS card to work on railway line which isn't available to to the public it must be provided by sponsor or from workplace (network rail) how many folk are sitting on agency books with the proper up to date tickets to carry out critical safety checks on the lines?

Something needs to happen as the UK can't be held to ransom but I do seem to remember the government and others saying how health and safety will suffer when P&O replaced their staff with agency
