Adele returns to UK number one with huge figures for Easy On Me
The singer scores her third UK number one single with the hotly anticipated new single Easy On Me.
Getty ImagesAdele has gone back to number one in the UK with the biggest chart figures for almost five years.Her new single Easy On Me had a record 24 million streams in the UK in its first week as well as 23,500 downloads.Using the Official Charts Company's formula, that is equivalent to 217,300 sales - the highest since Ed Sheeran's Shape of You in January 2017.

I don't like the song. I do like Adele, but for goodness sake why all the publicity over a new song? She is after all a popstar-singer-song writer. It's her job, that's what she does. Releasing a new song should not be BBC headline news or on Breakfast news first thing in the morning, all morning. She's got a fantastic voice but the new song is quite unremarkable.
