In 2016, fresh from his stunning presidential victory, Donald Trump sat down to be interviewed on the prestigious US news show 60 Minutes."I'm going to be very restrained, if I use it at all," he said.
Just before the 2020 election he was asked, once again on CBS' 60 Minutes, whether his tweets were putting off voters: In fact there is a school of thought that being off social media, at least for now, has actually helped him. "At a time when the pandemic has come back, the economy is slowing and there have been foreign policy disasters, you want public attention focused on the incumbent," he says.
Certainly his mentions on social media are way down - yet his grip over the Republican party is as tight as ever.Few would argue that a social media ban which stretched into 2024 would help a bid for the White House . Twitter has said that their suspension is permanent. However, there is some hope for Mr Trump here. He could of course win his court challenge, though legal experts think that is unlikely.
Backfire on who?
Wait and see what he’ll do to social media companies when he becomes president in ‘24…
The fact that media are saying its 'backfired' kind of suggests they had an agenda to silence him and make him go away. Shows how bias the media is in the first place.

Trump will be back. The truth will be back. The nonsense is not forever.
And a question like this shows just what a waste of public money the BBC is
no
If it means fewer people manipulated by that con man, as limiting his access to social media does, it absolutely has not failed.
When it comes to free and democratic censorship😂
...just as the curvature of the earth had started to return......
Well, that’s a load of covfefe.
No, no it won’t.
BBC stupidity
Nope. The world is better this way. By so much. But it does feel like a conflict of interest for *you* in the media, since it robbed you of awful, dreadful, democracy-destroying but lucrative clickbait content.
Who?
It’s made everyone’s life so much better lol
Everybody's waiting on the edge of their keyboards for Tweety Pies return...
