Strictly 2019: 'Not mastering the technique' Kelvin Fletcher and Oti's Cha Cha Cha doomed?

STRICTLY COME DANCING contestant Kelvin Fletcher has wowed the judges in his routines alongside professional dance partner Oti Mabuse. After heightening the temperature on the dance floor last week with their sensual Rumba, they scored high with 36 points, leaving them in second place. However, after he appeared to struggle in training, could he be in trouble this weekend?

Strictly Come Dancing’s spin off It Takes Two returned this evening, with former Strictly professional dancer Ian Waite back to give critiques on the couple’s training so far. The majority of contestants were given positive feedback, but he seemed concerned over Kelvin Fletcher's technique.

Kelvin has seriously impressed so far, after a string of well-executed routines made him the first contestant to receive tens this year.

He got the highest score in the third week of the competition in the show’s history, after the judges awarded him 38 points for his cheeky Mary Poppins’ themed Charleston.

However, Ian warned viewers how he could find himself further down the leaderboard this week.

As the former pro provided feedback on couples dances, attention turned to Kelvin and Oti Mabuse, who are dancing a Cha Cha Cha to Get Stupid by Aston Merrygold.

Kelvin has delivered some impressive hip action so far, but he seemed to be struggling in training for this week’s routine.

Host Zoe Ball noted: “Kelvin’s hips got quite a lot of attention from the judges last week and from a lot of our viewers, calm yourselves ladies… how’s it looking?”

Ian delivered the former soap star a blow as he admitted that he could be in trouble this week.

He stated: “I would like to see a little bit more straightening of the leg throughout the Cha Cha Cha, I think it might be a little bit more difficult for him this week.”

His comments left the host shocked, as she questioned: “WHAT? A difficult dance for Kelvin?”

“Yeah, he’s not mastering the technique as well as he has in other dances I have to say,” the critic confessed.

As Zoe queried what the star needed to do, Ian said: “He needs to finish off the straightening off that knee, I don’t want to see any daylight between those knees!”

Kelvin has proved popular in the competition so far, with viewers quickly becoming a fan of the former Emmerdale star’s moves.

Will Kelvin manage to get his technique perfected in time for this weekend, or will have find himself away from the top of the leaderboard?

It’s sure not to be too much of a blow, as he remains the bookies favourite to win the competition.

In the latest odds released by Coral, spokesperson John Hill said: "Kelvin is now odds-on to lift the Glitterball Trophy and judging by his performances so far in the series, he is going to take some stopping.”

He is at 5-6 odds to win the competition, with another fan favourite, Karim Zeroual in second place with odds at 10-3 and EastEnders star Emma Barton in third at 5-1 emerge victorious this year.

At the other end of the leaderboard, David James is evens to leave Strictly this weekend.

After last Dev Griffin’s departure last weekend shocked viewers, it seems to have cast uncertainty over who will leave the competition.

“Dev’s elimination last weekend proves no contestant is safe on Strictly, however, we make David James the favourite to be the fourth contestant to depart the show.
