Stranger Things spoilers follow.
Stranger Things season four's part two is going to blow fans away, according to Hopper star David Harbour.
While promoting his London play Mad House, which he stars in with Bill Pullman, Harbour told IndieWire that the final two episodes of the season are is "extraordinary", teasing that Hopper is going to be "more vulnerable and more powerful" than fans have previously seen him.
"It's the race to the finish," he said. "What you're going to see is us sprinting as hard as we can – not only are you going to see the Duffers sprinting there cinematically in this epic, extraordinary way, but you're going to see all the characters [doing] more and you're going to have these epic action sequences.
"In terms of Hopper's arc, you're going to see him be more vulnerable and more powerful than you've ever seen, and I'm just so excited for you. I can't talk about it anymore. I need you guys to watch. I think you're going to be blown away."
Part two will be released on Netflix on 1 July, with two feature-length episodes concluding the epic season. During the first volume, Harbour's Hopper spent most of the time apart from the rest of the Stranger Things cast as his character was locked away in a prison camp in Kamchatka, Russia.
But Winona Ryder's Joyce and Brett Gelman's Murray teamed up to rescue Hopper, and after Harbour's hero faced off against a Demogorgon, Hopper and Joyce were finally reunited for the first time since season three.
Harbour told IndieWire that he felt the pressure of this "amazing moment" while reading the script, adding that they shot the reunion "a bunch of different ways".
"We did about ten takes of it, and then I was like, 'You know what I think it is, man? I just think he's so in survival mode, I don't even think he thinks she's real'," Harbour said.
"So when she comes over to him, there's this moment where he kind of stares, pulls her away from him and looks at her, and then embraces her again. That's when we could go into the smile."
While the notion of seeing a "vulnerable" and "powerful" Hopper will no doubt excite fans, caution may be advised going into the final segment of season four. The show's creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, previously warned that fans "should be concerned" for their favourite characters going into Volume 2.
Stranger Things season 4 part 2 premieres on July 1, streaming on Netflix.
