Loose Women presenters Brenda Edwards and Judi Love attended a reception at Buckingham Palace on Thursday 9 June, to celebrate the Commonwealth Diaspora.

The event, which celebrates and recognises the important contribution that the Commonwealth diaspora provides the United Kingdom, welcomed hundreds of guests to the palace, from celebrities to key figures representing the arts, education, the NHS, and the charity sector.

At the event, Brenda was pictured speaking to Prince Charles, shaking his hand as the Prince smiled. The presenters were also pictured in their outfits as they entered the reception.

Brenda wore a royal blue jumpsuit paired with a slightly lighter blue jacket - she accessorised the look with some black shoes and two pendant necklaces, as well as some orange nail polish.

The presenter could also be spotted wearing a blue bracelet bearing the name of her son, Jamal Edwards, who died earlier this year due to a heart attack after taking recreational drugs.

Judi wore a tie-side printed midi dress from her own Very collection, paired with some silver cascading earrings, a green handbag, and some green wedge heels.

The reception is ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, which is set to take place in Rwanda later this month. The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall will attend the meeting, in Kigali, Rwanda, during the week of June 20.

The event was due to be held in Kigali in June 2020, but has been postponed twice due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

This is the first time Brenda Edwards has appeared in public since confirming the cause of death of eldest child, Jamal, earlier this week.

Taking to social media, Brenda shared the findings of Jamal's inquest, confirming that he had suffered a heart attack after taking recreational drugs.

Jamal died in February earlier this year, with an inquest looking into the circumstances of his death taking place on Tuesday, June 7.

Brenda wrote on her post: "Firstly, I wanted to thank each and every one who has reached out, sent messages and been there for me and my family since Jamal passed away in February.

"We have been so incredibly touched by the outpouring of love and support, and you are all helping us try and get through the unimaginable."

Brenda, 53, then went on to explain the cause of her beloved son's passing as she said: "Since I last spoke, I have sadly learned that the cause of Jamal's devastating passing was due to cardiac arrhythmia caused by having taken recreational drugs and I wanted to address this myself to everyone who loved, admired and respected my son."

The Loose Women star, who had previously shared her heartbreak at people revealing Jamal's passing before she had the chance to, went on to admit the news has been a "shock" for her.

Brenda said she knows Jamal will be "looking down on us" and "bursting with pride".

"Since finding out the news I have been in a state of shock, and I'm still trying to process it," she wrote. "But it's so important to me that I do address it as no mother or any loved one should go through what Jamal's sister, Tanisha, and I have been through since he passed."

She described her son as having had the “world at his fingertips – a zest for life and he was unwittingly taken away far too soon”.
