With celebs dishing out “wash your face” and “drink water” it's appreciated when a star drops some truly intriguing intel. But Selena Gomez seems to have understood the assignment. She's used her TikTok as a platform to dispense the insider beauty tips and tricks she's built up over her career in the entertainment industry.

Obviously Selena knows a thing or two about makeup. She's been wearing it since pre-teens, she's been able to observe the best makeup artists in the business at close range and she's captain of her own beauty brand, Rare.

In the past, the singer has dropped her no makeup makeup routine for followers wanting to emulate her pared-back aesthetic, she's taught us that leaving your concealer to marinate for a few minutes helps it blend more seamlessly into skin, and she's shown us that a stripe of contour below the lip can give the illusion of extra fullness.

But the tip that really lit up TikTok was the tweezer-mascara application combo Selena shared in a video she posted about how she uses her tinted moisturiser called “my simple quick look” last year.

After applying her base, Selena showed how she carefully creates fluttery-looking lashes, combing her mascara wand through her top lashes, then coating her tweezers in mascara and clamping clumps of her bottom lashes between the tips to create a defined doll-lash effect.

And, even though it lit up the beauty internet at the time with TikTok and Instagram users recreating the trick, the trend for clumpy lashes has intensified recently with even more celebs jumping on board. Already this year, Zendaya and Jenna Ortega rocked the clumpy lash look at the SAG Awards, and only last week, Dua Lipa posted a picture of her eye makeup with clumped, spidery bottom lashes.

Unsurprisingly Selena's advice is still ringing in our ears. The hashtag #selenagomezmascarahack has picked up 330k views, while a video from @hayleybuix recreating Selena's hack has accumulated over 1.3 million likes and over 9.5 million views.

A reel posted to Instagram by @sherriewebster where she took the tip for a spin, saw the comments section was lit up with followers saying they'll be recreating it asap.

So if you're looking for perfectly defined spidery lashes amped up with some sultry clumpy action, Selena Gomez is your gal. And, while we're at it, we'll be trying the blush-across-the-bridge-of-the-nose-trick she used in the same video to give her a beautifully natural-looking sun-flushed blush.
