Stacey Solomon Dinosaur Birthday Party for Rex

If you’ve got a dino-mad tot and are looking for ways to throw them a ‘roarsome’ birthday party, take some affordable, savvy inspiration from the lovely Stacey Solomon.

No stranger to DIY and getting crafty, Stacey made her son, Rex, a little Dino world in the garden to celebrate his third birthday. Complete with all his favourite toys, cookies, and easy-peasy accessories to make it a little more Jurassic, we’ve taken a dive into her Instagram stories to share how you can create your own dinosaur-themed birthday.

To create a mini dinosaur world in the garden for the lucky birthday boy, Stacey took the ball pit and play tent outdoors before decorating them with leftover Christmas ferns, old wall panels, and tree stumps to bring a wild, jungle feel to the garden. Whilst her youngest, Rose, was enjoying the ball pit, she wrote, “the two Dino crazy pickles are having the time of their lives on the slices of tree we had cut down”.

To transport them back in time, Stacey popped Rex’s favourite dinosaur toys about to bring the Jurassic landscape to life and resourcefully used a builder’s crate that she found by her workman’s stuff to use as a cake table – simple and yet so effective!

We also love her homemade banner reading ‘Three Rex’ – do you get it? Whilst Stacey called her free-hand letters ‘atrocious’, we think they perfectly fit the Jurassic theme.

After plenty of fun was had in the garden, Stacey took the dino world inside and made some dinosaur footprint cookies with Rex which went down a treat before the rest of the family got home.

The pièce de resistance? Dinosaur costumes of course! Stacey wrote, “Now everyone is almost home so it’s time to get our Dino costumes on and roar the night away!”

The whole family had a whale of a time running around in their dinosaur suits with Stacey, her son Leighton, and her fiancée Joe dressed up in the hilarious costumes, chasing, playing, and giving Rex plenty of piggy-backs.

Rex’s birthday cake was a sight to behold with dino-details and the family's furry friends, including Theo who recently passed, dressed up for the occasion. Stacey wrote on her stories, “It was such a special amazing cake with a T-Rex on the top @sweetnellysco and then… on the bottom were Teddy, Peanut & Theo in birthday hats made by a small business called @caketopperanimals. Rex is in love with them, he was so happy to see Theo on his birthday.”

It’s fair to say Rex had an amazing day, and if your little one is equally as obsessed with dinosaurs and all things Jurassic, here are some birthday buys perfect for creating your own dino-world at home just like Stacey.
