When it comes to fashion trends, animal print is one that never really goes away.

Each season, it rises and drops in popularity but remains a catwalk classic, with some of today’s It-girls, like Beyoncé, Kendall Jenner and JLo championing the look in recent years.

However the controversial trend got it's royal seal of approval on Wednesday as the one and only Kate Middleton stepped out rocking the print.

Appearing at London based mental health charity Shout, the 40-year-old wowed in a khaki leopard print midi length dress by designer Derek Lam 10 Crosby which currently has 50 per cent off.

The effortless look was finished off with the Duchesses signature black knee high boots from YSL and £10 gold hoop earrings from ASOS.

This isn't the first time we have seen the popular pattern pop up in the mum-of-three's wardrobe as she also sported it back in January 2020 when she visited Ely and Careau Children's Centre in Cardiff.

Kate wowed in a Zara printed skirt back in 2020

For the occasion Kate teamed a signature black roll neck jumper with a stylish leopard print pleated skirt from Zara which cost only £29.

Whilst sadly the skirt is no longer on sale, there are multiple versions of the sought after garment on eBay.

Another occasion where the Duchess wowed in the trend was back in 2013 when she attended a naming ceremony for a new addition to the Princess Cruises' fleet.

We love this bold maternity look on Kate from 2013

During her first pregnancy, Kate pulled off the perfect maternity look, sporting a bold animal print dress which she paired with black court heels and matching accessories.

This wasn't the last time we saw this incredible outfit as Kate showed her thrifty side as she re-wore it for an event in 2015.

Taking a look back through the Royal Families wardrobes, it seems that Kate isn't the only fan of the bold print as we have seen many before sport it.

Wowzer! Even The Queen knows how to pull off the controversial print. In 1962, she stepped out wearing this very bold coat for a day at Sandown Racecourse.

It's such a rarity in modern times to see Her Majesty sporting a different pattern to florals, let along such a controversial one.

Despite this, we absolutely love seeing this throwback snap of Queen Elizabeth proving how she has always had such chic style.

As she wishes departing sailors good luck in the Gulf War in 1991, Princess Diana sports the ultimate statement coat, with animal print cuffs and matching collar.

We know that the Princess of Wales was such a force with her fashion, and this look only goes to show why.

One to be forgotten about for her fabulous sense of style is none other than The Queen's very own sister, Princess Margaret.

Back in 1957, at the Badminton Horse Trials, the royal stepped out wearing this cropped leopard print coat and we're on the hunt to find where we can steal her style.

You can always count on Princess Diana to look cool for any occasion and this animal print swimsuit and matching skirt is no exception. What a look!

A head-to-toe animal print ensemble can seem a scary thought, but as always Diana proved how easy it is to embrace the pattern back in 1990.

Meghan keeps it subtle and chic with a pair of cow print shoes

Unlike her fellow royals, Meghan Markle keeps her animal print subtle by rocking patterned footwear instead. We love these jazzy, cow-print heels which look great with her neutral, chic outfit.
