Boris Johnson is battling to save his premiership after the Metropolitan Police launched a criminal investigation into parties in Downing Street and Whitehall.

In total, there are 18 separate events that allegedly took place across Westminster while coronavirus restrictions were in place. The gatherings were attended by cabinet ministers, Number 10 aides, civil servants, CCHQ staff and Johnson himself. According to some reports, eight of those parties are now being investigated by the police.

Full “stay at home” lockdown restrictions were relaxed but people were allowed to meet only one person from outside their household in an outdoor public place, socially distanced. Friends and family were banned in one another’s homes or gardens.
