AN EXPERT has urged people to look up their nail artist's reviews before booking an appointment, after seeing a surge of badly done, and even infected, nails.

The artist, who works at a nail salon in Worcestershire, shared some of the most horrific things she had ever come across during her career.

Since being uploaded three days ago, the short TikTok video, captioned: ''Stop going to walk in salons!'', has already been seen by almost 90,000 people.

According to the woman, one of her clients had never had a soak-up, despite having gone to the nail tech for two years.

This, as demonstrated by the photos, had resulted in severe discoloration and build-up, after having used cheap MMA (methyl Methacrylate) acrylics.

Unlike EMA (Ethyl Methacrylate), MMA, despite being banned in the 70s, is still widely used across many salons, as it sets up fast and adheres very well.

Research has even found out that this cheap product can cause serious skin reactions and permanent nail damage.

''This is what MMA looks like when it's soaking off - it's really slimy, has a fishy perfume odour,'' the expert demonstrated in the video.

Another client who had her nails covered in MMA instead of EMA had previously been to a walk-in salon.

''Her nails were literally full off green - I see this all the time,'' the artist claimed.

As well as often coming across people with MMA nails, the woman also added she's had clients whose acrylics have ''no structure, no apex''.

Located at the weakest point, the apex, according to Katie Barnes, a nail stylist, created to give the nail balance and strength.

''Literally, people are paying £40 upwards for nails like this,'' she said.

''That is not even a nail - you're being scammed.''

In some of the worst case scenarios, the FDA-banned MMA can even rip the nail off.

''Please stop going to these places.

''They're not regulated and are giving us, nail techs, a really bad name.''

Viewers were aghast at what they had just watched, with one writing: ''that’s exactly what my nails looked lol when I soaked them in acid tone...

''I thought it was just me, I also had my nails ripped off.''

Another horror story read: ''I went to a walk in once and I couldn’t get it off for AGES, I went to a proper salon and they said they literally used silicone!''

''BRILLIANT VIDEO 👏🏽,'' someone said, whilst another thought everyone should watch this.

''Nail knowledge is sooooo needed for these salons!''
