A 66-year-old man has been jailed for 21 months after making bomb threats against Covid vaccination centres and causing criminal damage.

A major alert had been issued after Rodney Peasley made bomb threats to a health organisation and a school in Truro, Cornwall, on November 19. Peasley, from the nearby village of Scorrier, admitted three charges of staging bomb hoaxes and four of criminal damage totalling £16,000 at Mount Hawke medical centre.

Nick Lewin, for the prosecution, said that in a single call to the organisation Kernow Health, Peasley indicated that in the next hour multiple devices would be detonated randomly in service vehicles. He also made two calls to the Richard Lander School in Truro, where Covid vaccinations were taking place.
