The couple have rented a home in the nearby town of Kuesnacht for many years.

The Simply the Best hitmaker stepped back from the public eye nearly 20 years ago, retiring to Chateau Algonquin.

Bach said the new property will be a 'new weekend retreat in the immediate vicinity'.

He added that 'due to the pandemic and its consequences we — like many other Swiss — unfortunately are refraining from travel.'

Federer reportedly also looked at the property before settling on a different one further east along the lake.

Turner, known for such hits as Proud Mary and What's Love Got To Do With It and her dynamic on-stage performances, married German music executive Bach in 2013 after a long relationship.

Born Anna Mae Bullock on November 26 1939, in Brownsville, Tennessee, she has lived in Switzerland with him since 1994.

The veteran singer made the purchase just before agreeing to sell the right to her entire music catalogue to publishing giant BMG for £225million.

The deal saw BMG acquire hits such as The Best and Nutbush City Limits as well as the rights to Turner's name and image.

Renowned for her distinctive voice, boundless energy and tempestuous relationship with former husband Ike Turner, the singer had five platinum albums including 1984's Private Dancer.

Turner said she was confident her music was 'in reliable hands'. BMG boss Hartwig Masuch said: 'We are honoured to take on the job of managing Tina Turner's musical and commercial interests.

'It is a responsibility we take seriously and will pursue diligently. She is truly and simply, the best.'

Turner, who retired after a sold out farewell tour in 2009, is the latest artist to cash in on the value of their back catalogue, following Blondie, Shakira and Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks.

The deals give the artists an upfront payment, with music publishers able to stream songs across different platforms.
