The pandemic made rich people realise that life is short, and they want to “live now to enjoy the nice, lovely things in the world”, Torsten Müller-Ötvös, the chief executive of Rolls-Royce cars, said last week. He should know. The Goodwood-based company delivered a record number of cars last year: 5,586 — 49 per cent more than in 2020. Many models were one-offs.
