'Makes my heart sink' Stacey Solomon in turmoil over adopting new pet in wake of loss

STACEY SOLOMON has revealed that she is feeling guilty over the prospect of getting a new pet after her beloved dog Theo died in her arms over the Christmas period.

star , 32, has admitted that the family are looking into getting a “new friend” for their other dog Peanut, who has been feeling lonely without Theo. However, Stacey is keen to make sure that Theo will not be forgotten. 

 

In view of her 4.9 million Instagram followers, Stacey shared her thoughts on adopting a new dog.

The star shared a heartbreaking video of Peanut sitting quietly in Theo’s bed, as she zoomed in with the camera to give him an affectionate pat. 

“Just a quick question before bed…” Stacey began. 

“It still makes my heart sink every time I walk in here and look at Theo’s bed.

“Peanut is either on my lap or sitting in Theo’s bed. 

“He’s better than he was at the beginning, but still not himself. 

“We are looking into adopting a friend for him, but I must admit I feel so guilty about it. 

“I just think about Theo,” she added with a crying emoji.

“But our vet said Peanut may be a dog that absolutely needs a companion and it could be detrimental to his well-being if he doesn’t have one.”

On the next slide, Peanut’s face could be seen resting in Stacey’s palm as the adorable pooch closed his eyes. 

She wrote in the caption: “Why does my heart feel like in looking into a friend for Peanut I’m forgetting about Theo. 

“I really want to make Peanut his bouncy happy playful self again and we have room in our hearts and home for another fur baby but I just feel so bad about it.”

“Just wondering if anyone in the same boat felt this way?” she asked her followers. 

“And so curious to know what you did… Love you lots. Thank you in advance.” 

In late December last year, the former X Factor star revealed that her lap felt “so empty” after Theo died and that Peanut was devastated by the loss.

At the time she wrote: “Peanut is extremely sad. We are giving him cuddles and love and he is cuddling Rose like a hot water bottle so hopefully he will be back to his jumpy self soon.”

In an Instagram tribute, she wrote: “Sweet Dreams Theo. The best friend we could have ever wished for. Our hearts are broken. 

“Yesterday at home in our arms we had to say goodnight to our Theo. 11 wonderful years. 

“We were so lucky to love you Fifi and we will never stop. My lap has never felt so empty.

“I miss you so much already. My little girl. But oh my goodness the memories and the love you brought into our lives. Thank you for everything Theo.”
