Power's Tommy Egan may have left the Big Apple in an attempt to start again in the Windy City, but that doesn't mean he's been able to leave the troubles of his past life behind.

That's if the first official trailer for upcoming spin-off Power Book IV: Force is anything to go by, anyway.

Executive produced by Courtney A Kemp and Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson, the new show sees Tommy relocate to Chicago, after losing Ghost, LaKeisha and the only city he's ever known.

As he leaves New York City, he makes a quick detour in an attempt to close a chapter of his life that's been haunting him for years, but the new trailer reveals that Tommy (Joseph Sikora) instead becomes tangled in a web of long-buried family secrets and lies.

"One step leads to another and Tommy quickly finds himself in Chicago's drug game, inserting himself between the city's two biggest crews," the synopsis continues.

"In a city divided by race, Tommy straddles the line, ultimately becoming the lynchpin that not only unites them — but holds the power to watch them crumble. As the first season unfolds at breakneck speed, Tommy uses his outsider status to his advantage, breaking all the local rules and rewriting them on his quest to become the biggest drug dealer in Chicago."

"I ain't work for anybody, I'm a free agent," the character can be seen saying in the video. "I'm out here trying to make money, and moves. I've not even been in this city long enough to make any enemies...

"Alright, I got three," he admits, as a montage sees him fighting with a bunch of adversaries. "Three enemies, but that's definitely it."

Isaac Keys (Get Shorty), Lili Simmons (Banshee), Gabrielle Ryan (Bonding), Shane Harper (A Teacher), Kris D. Lofton (Empire), Anthony Fleming III (Prison Break), Lucien Cambric (The Chi) and Tommy Flanagan (Sons of Anarchy) round out the supporting cast.

"What you can expect on the show is a lot more of the same from Tommy," Sikora previously teased as part of an Instagram Live. "But he's got nothing. So remember, he left New York with nothing. He left with a bunch of money, some guns, some burners, and that's it. Just everything he had on his person."

Picking up right after the events of Power's finale, the outing sees Tommy trying to "rebuild himself" in Chicago in real-time.

"They've definitely given Tommy a very fast trajectory towards the inroads of [the city], Sikora told Entertainment Weekly. "So my job is to make sense of that and to show up as, I guess, the force of nature – pardon the pun – that Tommy really is."

Power aired on Starz in the US, and is available on Netflix in the UK. Power Book III: Raising Kanan airs on Starz in the US and streams on Starzplay, available through Amazon Prime Video, in the UK.
