Brendan Cole has revealed he had to go to hospital after smashing his head during Dancing On Ice training.

The former Strictly Come Dancing professional, 45, revealed that he took his mind off what he was doing and ended up getting a concussion after banging his head.

He told the Daily Star: ‘I was on the ice and I took my mind off what I was doing for a second.

‘I turned – and that’s the last thing I remember. I was taken to hospital and ended up with a concussion.

‘When I realised what had happened, I was horrified.’

Brendan says the incident has taught him to be ‘100% focused’ when he is on the ice as the alternative is ‘really dangerous’.

He has also taken to finishing training sessions when he runs out of energy, before the mistakes start creeping in which could cause accidents or injuries.

Despite taking more care, Brendan admitted: ‘It’s injuries akimbo. You get skates across your shins, bleeding and bruising.’

He also recently sliced his partner Vanessa Bauer’s back with his blade during a rehearsal for the upcoming series.

She showed off the cut, telling her followers: ‘Got Brendan’s blade in my back. Dancing On Ice really is a bit dangerous.’

Dancing On Ice begins in January on ITV.
