Ricky Gervais has revealed his current fashion choices are exactly what he hoped to level up from when he was ‘really poor’.

The Office creator, 60, is known for his dressed-down style and took to Instagram to joke: ‘When I was really poor, I got so fed up having only T shirts and old sweat pants to wear, that I tried to make a suit out of curtains.

‘Now I can afford to wear anything I want. So I wear T shirts and old sweat pants. Probably some moral to this story. Anyway, here’s a cat.’

Alongside his caption, Ricky shared a photo of him with his cat Pickle, who he has had for just over a year.

After Life star Ricky and his partner, writer and TV star Julia Fallon, had initially tried to foster Pickle but ended up choosing to adopt the kitty instead.

They couple had fostered Pickle seven months after their previous cat Ollie had died, initially intending to keep her for just a few days until she could go to her forever home, but fell in love with the cat and couldn’t part with her.

Telling his followers about their foster fail, Ricky wrote in October 2020: ‘Quick update on the cat we’re fostering: She keeps getting on my lap and staring at me. We’re keeping her.’

Jane added at the time: ‘BIG NEWS!!! This will come as no surprise to anyone. We’ve fallen in love with Catkins – and her with us we think – and we’re keeping her!

‘We’re going to rename her. (She was only called Catkins by the rescue). Any suggestions? #FosterFail #Obviously.’

Jane later revealed Pickle’s full new name, telling fans: ‘OK we have a decision…. meet Pickle. Full name Picklicious Fatkins the First.’

We’re sure Pickle doesn’t mind what Ricky wears as long as he’s got cat treats on tap for her.
