The first teaser trailer for the hotly anticipated second series of Netflix's raunchy period drama Bridgerton has been released.
While the relationship between Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page), took centre stage in the first instalment, the second series will focus on the eldest Bridgerton child Anthony's romantic pursuits as he becomes a Viscount.
And a one-minute clip, which was dropped during streaming service Netflix's virtual fan event TUDUM on Saturday 25 September, highlights the emerging chemistry between Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and his new debutante Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley).
The pair start on the wrong foot, as the clip sees Kate telling Anthony that she has overheard him list all the qualities he looks for in a wife.
Anthony asks: "You take issue with my requirements?"
Kate responds: "I take issue with any man who views women merely as chattels and breeding stock.
"When you manage to find this paragon of virtue, what makes you think that she will accept your suit? Are the young ladies of London truly so easily won by a pleasing smile and absolutely nothing more?"
When Anthony notes that she finds his smile "pleasing", she fires back with, "your character is as deficient as your horsemanship" before walking off.
As well as the new teaser look, Netflix confirmed that Bridgerton will be coming back in 2022.
When asked about Jonathan and Simone's chemistry in the upcoming season, Chris Van Dusen told Deadline: "The two of them are just magnetic."
Speaking of magnetism, many show fans were heartbroken when the news broke that the series favourite Regé-Jean Page would not be returning for the show's second run.
The actor received an Emmy nomination for his portrayal of Simon Basset - aka "The Duke" - but lost out to The Crown's Josh O'Connor.
Despite the fact he won't be making a comeback, Chris insisted: "He's our duke, and he will always be our duke."
