The footballer known as Hulk caused a stir recently when it was revealed he was expecting a child with a woman who was technically his niece at one point.

Hulk, 35, began dating Camila Sousa after his relationship with ex-wife Iran Angelo de Sousa broke down. Camila is Iran's niece.

Explaining how this occurred in an Instagram Live video, Hulk said: "Camila came to China," he said. "I don't think I'm an ugly person and I'm young. Camila is young and extremely beautiful. We ended up getting involved. We were single."

Of his ex-wife, Iran, with whom he has three children, the former Brazil international said: "I started dating and in less than a month you got pregnant. Ian, Tiago and Alice with the blessing of God," he said.

"My marriage didn't come out of love, out of passion, nothing, it was an accident that you got pregnant with Ian. And I took over."

Hulk was heavily linked with a number of Premier League clubs over the years, most frequently Chelsea.

He currently plays his football back in his home country of Brazil, where he now puts on the shirt of Atlético Mineiro in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, Brazil's highest professional tier.

His career began with brief stints at youth football with Vilanovense and São Paolo, before making his professional debut with Vitória in 2004.

Hulk then moved to spend four years in Japan. At first on loan Kawasaki Frontale, then to Consadole Sapporo and Tokyo Verdy all on loan, before moving permanently back to Kawasaki Frontale and then back to Tokyo Verdy.

It was not until he was snapped up by the famous Portuguese side FC Porto in 2008 that he began to become one of Europe's best-known players.

He spent four years in Porto and earned his first cap for Brazil in 2009 and was the league's top scorer in the 2010-11 season, with 23 goals.

He has gone on to play for the Seleção 49 times, scoring 11 goals.

In 2012, he moved to Zenit St. Petersburg for €60 million. It was here he spent another four years, before moving on to Chinese side Shanghai SIPG in 2016.

He returned to his native Brazil in 2021, with Atlético Mineiro and has since scored 21 goals in 46 appearances.
